The Ixtlan agricamping and us
Sailing to the hills
We left our home town of Livorno in 2007 on board a sailing boat, with one 2-year-old son and another on the way, in search of a new life: one more in contact with nature.
After two years of nomadic life on both land and sea, as chance would have it we “berthed” at Tatti, where we found what we had been looking for. We decided to stay.
As a ship’s carpenter and a yoga teacher with two young sons we knew that in order to live in a village in the middle of the woods without having to commute we would have to invent ourselves a new trade.
So first of all we bought a piece of land with olive and fruit trees on it and started growing saffron, but found that that didn’t give us enough to live on.
We had always loved having guests and our piece of land with its shady terraces and the possibility of a rebuild lent itself perfectly to transformation into an agricamping.
The idea that came to us was that of providing a peaceful place, far from the hustle and bustle of daily life, immersed in nature but not too isolated from the rest of the world, where guests could regenerate and at the same time be able to visit the surroundings, which offer a wide choice of day trips both cutural and within nature.
Besides the tent pitches, secluded and in the shade, we thought of offering some more comfortable solutions for those who would rather have a simple and spartan holiday without giving up the luxury of finding a ready-made bed in a welcoming atmosphere on their arrival.
Good, genuine food, made from good quality ingredients, cooked simply but tastily, is part of what we like to provide for our guests. Here you can get us to make you breakfast, which can be plain or full, and every so often we organise a dinner based on dishes typical of the Tuscan tradition or we light our wood-burning oven and make pizza using ancient grain flour and other quality ingredients.
Those who would like to prepare their own meals can make use of the common kitchen area, which is equipped with all that is needed, from A to Z. This space is a pleasant meeting place for the guests of the agricamping, of whom there can be 15 at the height of the high season.
The last piece of the puzzle that we are adding to complete our offer is a space set apart in the middle of the vegetation in which to organise workshops or courses dedicated to the various types of arts and disciplines which help us connect with the deepest and truest parts of our Self.
